Pasta Princess

Yesterday, I went to a small market shop down the street from our apartment and found different bagged spices for sauces. The puttanesca looked plenty flavorful, is a great complement to penne, and all I needed to do was sautee the spices in some olive oil so I figured, why not? I came home and made a quick snack and for one, used too much of the spice because my nose was running half way through my meal, and two, it needed a little bit of protein to hold me over for more than an hour.

Today after running around the city with my photography class using both film and digital cameras, I was famished. I stopped at a little cafe and picked up a salami wrap with cheese and lettuce. I failed to realize there was some type of other meat in there as well... I'm sure the Italians love it but to me, it was fatty raw bacon. In my spit of anger that I just spent 3,80 euro on a wrap that had sick bacon in it I almost threw it away.

I walked into my apartment and threw on the pasta again. Waiting for the water to boil, I unwrapped the tortilla to extract the nasty parts out and just eat the wrap with the salami, cheese and lettuce. A littttle tiny though popped into my head. Instead of throwing out the gooey bacon, why not cook it a little? So I did. Then chopped it up and mixed it into the puttanesca seasoning and olive oil. Voila! Delicioso :)

Mom, I'll bring some of this home for you. Never fear.
Note: my golden tan from my weekend in the Amalfi Coast ;)
